"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen."
Matthew 28:19-20
What do you count as success? At the end of your life, when you look back, what will you see that makes you say, "I'm glad I did that?" Will it be your net financial worth? Will it be some great work of art or literature? Perhaps it will be a monument built in your name? Solomon called all of this vanity. He said in Ecclesiastes that no one would remember your wealth, works of art, or building projects.
In this world there are only two things that will last for all eternity -- God’s word and God’s people. So here is my simple two-part plan for everlasting success. Step one; get to know God’s word and live it. Step two; teach someone else how to get to know God’s word and live it.
Because if we are going to be successful Christians, we can’t skip step two. We cannot leave the job of discipleship up to someone else.
