In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
The first line of the first book of the Bible presents us with a declaration of the existence of God and His actions. No further proof of His existence is given or needed, for His creation testifies of Him and is proof positive of a Creator (Psalm 19:1-6).
Much has been written about where we came from, how it all began, what we should know about the past etc., but nothing has ever approached the simple truth found here: He made the heavens and the earth at the beginning! Knowing God as our Creator will make us bold and hopeful all the days of our lives.
The saints in the early church, threatened with physical suffering if they continued to preach in the name of Jesus, gathered together to pray. They needed God’s help, needed boldness, and needed to overcome fear. Their prayer is recorded in Acts 4:24-30 but it began with these words: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them" (Acts 4:24). Knowing His power and oversight and position, they could face the hardships before them knowing He was greater still!
This same God who made all you see and know, dwells in the hearts of those who have turned in faith to His Son at the cross and been forgiven of their sins. He made the heavens and the earth; He can easily handle your problems today!
