Ezra Comes To Town
Ezra 7-10
Beginning with chapter seven, Ezra, the author of this book, finally appears as he leads one of the final groups of Jews to be repatriated back into their homeland after the captivity. Ezra was a priest who had studied the Scriptures while a captive and the one God used to bring spiritual worship back to the people. Upon arriving in Jerusalem, Ezra discovers that many of the people were committing the same sins that sent the nation into captivity years earlier. Seeing this, he prays, fasts, and lays down the demands and requirements for repentance.
