The Book of Judges follows chronologically the Book of Joshua. The narrative of Judges will take us all the way to the first king, Saul!
By Moses, the children of Israel had been led out of Egypt to the borders of the Promised Land and formed a national identity. By Joshua, they had possessed the Promised Land just as God had declared from the beginning with His promises to Abraham.
Ruth has only 85 verses in all. But it has some powerful lessons to teach us, not the least of which is God’s work amongst His own that live in but are not of the world. It is a book about God’s providence. Providence is what God does naturally in our lives, weaving together many intricacies to bring about a supernatural outcome and a perfect plan.
