God's Gracious Eye Upon Us!
1 Samuel 29-30
As preparations are made by the Philistines to invade Israel and David being assembled with them, a protest is made forcing David and his men to leave the army. To his surprise when returning to Ziklag, the Amalekites had invaded the city taking David's wives and the wives of his men captive. This event provoked such grief that there was talk about stoning David. This forced David to begin seeking the Lord and once again take on the responsibility of being a godly leader. Then he and his men were able to pursue the Amalekites, recapturing their wives and children plus a great deal of booty, some of which he sent to the leaders of Judah.
