Having God's Perspective
James 1:9-11
James was writing to Jewish believers who were being heavily persecuted for their faith. As a result of following Jesus, some had faced a major trial of going from being well off to being poor. Therefore, James encourages these people by giving them God's perspective of their state. He tells them that true joy does not come from being rich, but results from a state of contentment that only God can make possible. For those who were rich and who have become lowly and poor they can now rejoice because their trust is in the Lord and not their riches that will soon fade away.
